Halfway Done?!

Familia! Glad to hear from you all this week! I had heard it a number of times before my mission, but never really understood it when people said, "The days are long, but the weeks are short." It´s absolutely true! It´s crazy to look back and think that I got here nearly three weeks ago.

Dad--I felt so bad that I didn´t get a chance to wish you a happy birthday last week. After I logged off, I looked back at my notes that I wanted to email and it said "Dad´s Birthday." I was thinkin about you all week! I hope it was a good day. Glad to hear you and Parks had a good time at the Triathlon. How was the sleep the night before? Haha The Lord sure does answer prayers! And you´re right, prayers for humility are ones that he loves to answer quickly haha. It is a great opportunity to serve. The responsibilities aren´t as much as I´m sure they will be in the field. I basically just have to check on the missionaries in my zone, organize Sacrament and Priesthood meeting, and meet with District Leaders. I write in my journal every night, without fail. Ethan made me promise him that I would, so I don´t plan on missing a day. Sometimes I don´t feel like I have much to say, but I always end up filling at least one page. The food isn´t that great, so I eat a lot of cold cereal and toast with Nutella. They have a Nutella bar here that is always packed haha.

I´ve got some bad news that happened this week though. Someone stole all of my money out of my bag while it was in our classroom. My wallet was zipped inside one of the pockets, so they would have had to look through it in order to find it. I was pretty devastated when I realized what had happened. All my money (about 200 American dollars and 400 Mexican pesos) was stolen, so now I am without any cash. I filed a report, so I´m hoping I´ll somehow be able to at least get some of it back, but my hopes aren´t extremely high. Please say a prayer that I will be able to get some of it back. I didn´t think I would have to worry about anything like that happening here, but they said it could have been one of the workers and that similar things have happened before.

The language is coming along (slowly). It is hard not to get frustrated, but I try to tell myself that I have only been trying to really speak this language for less that three weeks and it takes most people a LONG time to be able to speak. So I´m continuing to work hard and striving for improvement. My typical day entails: waking up and getting ready for the day, study time in the classroom, breakfast, gym time, language class, teaching an investigator, companion study, lunch, language study, personal study, language class, teaching an investigator, dinner, personal study, language study, TALL (computer language study), then daily planning. They´re not all the same like that, but that´s basically the grind haha.

I hope USA does work in their game! I heard all about México losing haha. I want to hear more about US sports! How´s Wimbledon? (Wimbleton for Parker).

Mom--I hope you have as good of luck with this gopher as you did with the other one! You´ll have to try to drown it out again haha. Glad to hear you and Alli are having fun together! I hope the boys get there safely and that G&G make it back okay as well. The week has gone by fast again, they are starting to really fly by. I hope I can improve my language enough to be able to confident when I hit the streets of LA. I hope all is well back in good ol´ Toppenish! Please keep sending me scriptures to look up, I enjoy that.

I´m pretty sure I left all of my workout stuff on the foot of my bed when I was packing, I might need you guys to send me that when I get back to LA. I think I already said this, but I cant upload pictures from my camera, so I´ll have to get a card reader or something back in the states. The past couple weeks I´ve used another Elder´s camera in my district to do it, but he isn´t here. Also, please add Trevor to the list of people you send my email to. I´m pretty sure it is trevork21@gmail.com but check with him just in case. How is my old friend Joe Bailey doing? Please keep him updated and let him know I am doing well.

I love you all! I hope you have a great week! Enjoy the boys being home, that will be fun. And enjoy that rodeo! I´m jealous! I could use some good country music right now and a little bit of dirt on my pants haha. This Church is true and Christ stands at the head. I was able to watch a devotional from Elder Bednar on Sunday about the character of Christ. What a blessing it is to hear from Apostles of the Lord who are His witnesses here on the Earth. He emphasized that we must not only have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Christ, but we must also be CONVERTED to the Gospel of Christ. I know that He lives and guides this work that I have been blessed enough to participate in. I am trying to become more like Him every day and feel closer to Him as I plead with him for help and blessings all throughout the day.

"Become completely converted to the Gospel and you will never fall away." Have a great week and 4th! Te amo!

Elder Reynolds
